The history of Exploding Box Co
I started crafting handmade cards when recovering from major surgery back in 2010. I came across a Victorian sewing box. The same principle as my exploding occasions boxes, but made from scraps of fabric. The correct name of which is an Etui Box.
At the time, I was looking for some inspiration for my mom's 60th birthday card.. I saw the Etui Box and thought that would be an awesome birthday card if made from paper! So, after many hours of fiddling, I created the first of my Exploding Occasions Boxes.
My mom was so enthralled by it that she carried it around for weeks, showing all her friends. And after much nagging, I agreed to make a wedding card version, which I then went on to share on Facebook. 3 hours later, I had my first 6 orders... and my little home-based business began.
